日本人アーティストが作るヤドカリアート｜AKI INOMATA（アキ・イノマタ）

3Dプリンターでヤドカリが芸術作品に：日本人アーティスト

AKI INOMATAは、3Dプリンターでつくった透明な貝殻を背負った、美しいヤドカリたちを生み出した。

日本人アーティストのAKI INOMATA（アキ・イノマタ）は、ラピッドプロトタイピングを利用して、ヤドカリの地味な外観をおしゃれにした。

INOMATAは高精度3Dプリンターを使って、水晶のように透明な貝殻の作品群を制作した。これらの貝殻によって、常に家とともに移動することで有名な生き物の背中に、ニューヨークやタイ、ギリシアの建物などがそびえることになった。

ヤドカリはゴミでも家にすることが知られているが、彼らが気に入る家を作るのは実は難しかった。

「最初は、ヤドカリはどのようなかたちの家にも適合できるものだと思っていました。ペットボトルのキャップを選ぶヤドカリがいることを知っていたからです。ところがまったく違いました。いくつか試してみましたが、ヤドカリたちは見向きもしませんでした」とINOMATAは述べる。

「やど」の内部が巻貝のように螺旋状になっていないものを渡しても、やどかりには見向きもされなかった。INOMATAはCTスキャナーを使って、1匹のヤドカリが使っていた貝殻の内部の非常に詳細な3次元データを取得した。

CTスキャンデータをベースにした「やど」を制作することで、家を探すヤドカリたちを満足させることができた。

象徴的意味

『ハウルの動く城』を思い出させる作品。

この作品は、フランス大使館で行われた「No Man’s Land」への出展のため制作された。なんとそのインスピレーションは、大使館の土地の所有権だそうだ。

“旧”在日フランス大使館は2009年に解体され、隣接する土地に新たな大使館が建設された。”旧”大使館の土地はそれまで、「フランス」だったが、解体後は「日本」になり、それが50年間続くという。そしてまた50年後に再び「フランス」に戻るというのだ。

INOMATA は、二国が同じ土地を平和のうちに入れ替える不思議に衝撃を受けたという。そして、中身は同じでありながら、背負う「やど」によって外見が全く異なる「やどかり」の習性にその事実を重ね、この作品のアイデアが生まれた。

世界中の街や建物を「やど」に模し、「やど」を次々と引っ越しさせる。すると、この作品は「国境」とは何か、住みたい国に住めない人が存在することへの問題意識、ひいては「人は自らが住まう国・土地を選択することは可能なのか？」ということをわたしたちに問いかけてくる。

INOMATA は次のように説明している。「日本語の『ヤドカリ』には、一時的な場所に住むものという意味があります。ヤドカリの体自体は同じですが、その外観は、かぶっている貝殻に応じて完全に変化します。まるで自らのアイデンティティを問うているかのように」

上海での作品展

2013年5月から6月まで、INOMATAの作品展が上海で開催された。

ica gallery in london presents a compilation of works of one of the most in demand, and highly paid, fashion photographers in the world - juergen teller.
teller operates between both the art and commercial world - having shot such celebrities such as kate moss, kurt cobain and vivienne westwood,
all taken with a distinctively provocative approach that tends to subvert the traditional relationship between artist and model.

the exhibition will also feature work taken from a more personal place, which include family pictures - revealing a more intimate side of teller's life in
his hometown in germany and residence in suffolk. teller collaborates with the subject in a way that allows for surprising and honest outcomes,
fortifying his skill in telling a story through every image. throughout his career, teller has formed his own instantly recognisable style
which blends humour and candidness in a unique and powerful way.

cologne-based artist heike weber has sent designboom images of her latest permanent marker artwork she completed for a cafe in prague entitled 'bodenlos' -
which literally means 'loosing the ground under your feet'. the installation strays from the traditional avenues associated with the artistic
discipline of sculpture by using a very common and available tool - a marker, and through meticulous and labour-intensive applications of the instrument,
weber manages to create another world. weber transforms a space into a three-dimensional sheet of paper, flooding walls,
floor and surfaces with graphic interventions - injecting a powerful energy through creeping strokes and lines.
she hijacks an area through the humble medium of illustration, engulfing the atmosphere with mesmerizing force -
commanding an interaction, a response.

被写体はラブホテル！　写真展『ShINC. MAGAZINE×TAKAMURADAISUKE「半LOVE」』

新人発掘をテーマに1989年に創刊され、その斬新な切り口が話題になった伝説の写真雑誌『Sh・I・ N・C』は、五味彬を中心に写真家がつくる写真雑誌『ShINC. MAGAZINE』として2012年に復活した。そのVol.3で表紙から巻頭までの写真を手がけているのがTAKAMURADAISUKE。本展では、そのTAKAMURADAISUKEが2007年より制作し続けているラブホテルを撮影した作品「半LOVE」を中心に展示・販売する。

はっきりとした存在意義をもち、目立つ外観をして、どこかおかしみを漂わせる“ラブホテル”。この、名前に“LOVE＝愛”を冠した日本発祥の独特の施設が、今回展示される作品の被写体だ。

TAKAMURADAISUKEは「ぼくが“ラブホテル”を最初に意識して撮ったのは、2007年に下北半島を目指し北上していた途中、青森県八戸市でのことだ。そのあっけらかんとした外観をよく覚えている。そこにはだいたい“ラヴホテル”がある。そこには作為された意図以上の何かが、あるいは無作為の何かがまったくのマテリアルな世界として存在している。いつからかその“何か”を写真にしたいと思うようになった」と、本展に寄せる文の中で書いている。

本展を企画したのは、3号目より『ShINC. MAGAZINE』の編集人を務め、自らも写真家として活躍する大和田良。彼は、『ShINC.』の行うべきことは「さまざまな角度から写真を観察し、またそれを読者に返していくこと」だと考えているという。「彼の作品は一見派手に見えながら、実は大変繊細な色使いと階調が備わっています。その本来の色がプリントで再現されたものには、印刷とはまた違った見応えを感じられることではないかと期待しています」（大和田氏）。

会場で流れる音楽は、音楽評論家でありバンド「湯浅湾」などでも活動する湯浅学による選曲。会期中の4月13日（土）19:00～20:00には音楽家の山本精一を招いて「半LOVE」とエレクトリックギターのライヴセッションも開催する。また、4月21日（日）15:00～16:30には加藤正樹（アートバード・ブックス）を招いてのアーティストトークも。いずれも要予約（先着30名）につき、興味のある方は早めに「B GALLERY」にお電話を。
